Our Story: Founded on Science and Innovation

Wholesale Nutrition was founded in 1970 by Oscar Falconi, a physicist and graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Growing up in New York during the 1940s, Oscar was surrounded by differing opinions. He often joked that his parents could rarely agree on anything, from politics to whether the windows should remain open at night.

This inspired his fascination with physics, where complex questions could be answered through careful investigation, evidence, and scientific reasoning.

After earning his physics degree from MIT, Oscar worked and published in the field until the late 1960s, when emerging research into vitamin C inspired him to pursue a new direction.

In 1967, Oscar moved to San Jose, California, where he dedicated himself to understanding vitamin C and developing improved nutritional formulations.

The Birth of C-Salts Buffered Vitamin C

Oscar recognized that traditional vitamin C supplements could present challenges for some consumers, particularly when taken in larger amounts.

His goal was to create a vitamin C formula that was less acidic, easier on the stomach, and convenient to incorporate into a daily routine.

In 1970, Wholesale Nutrition was established, and the concept behind C-Salts was born. Over the following decade, Oscar continued researching and refining the formula.

Today, C-Salts remains one of Wholesale Nutrition's signature products, reflecting our longstanding commitment to nutritional innovation and quality.

Recognition and a Legacy of Research

Over the years, C-Salts has been discussed and recommended in books, newsletters, and publications focused on nutrition and wellness.

Notably, C-Salts was recommended in two New York Times bestselling books by Dr. Andrew Weil, who described it as "The Best Form of Vitamin C."

Wholesale Nutrition's history has also been influenced by developments in orthomolecular nutrition and the work of researchers and thinkers including Irwin Stone, Linus Pauling, Robert Cathcart, Glen Dettman, Ian Dettman, Archie Kalokerinos, and Durk Pearson.
